Five Writing Tips

Good Afternoon,

I sit here on a Sunday with the fortunate opportunity to give you my five writing tips. Lets start shall we:

1 – Be concise: To many times we start typing emails to our co workers and we add in cursory information which doesn’t matter. The more to the point you are about what you are writing, the faster people will read your message and get on with their day.

2 – Be Informative: Ensure you are actually informing your audience of something. No ones wants to have a time suck from reading a long email just to realize that it didn’t have anything to do with them.

3 – Be direct: Tell the people what you want to say and get out of the bull pen.

4 – Be professional: Ensure you are writing what you mean but making sure to be professional in your communication. Too many times you can have a well put together thought, just to have the message be lost because of slang or vulgar language.

5 – Be empathetic: Lastly, know who your audience is and write in a way to ensure that your thoughts won’t be misconstrued.
